About Us
The history behind Active Sectors
|
Our focus
Active Sectors is a data service company that specializes in
mathematical data analysis of equity trends within industry sectors.
We are not an investment advisory firm, and do not provide any
investment recommendations or advice. Our focus is to
educate individuals with statistical information on the equity trends
within each sector of the marketplace so they can make better
investment decisions with their broker or investment advisor.
|
Who we are
Our founder has a university degree in Economics from SFU with 12
years of training and business experience in underwriting and risk
management within the insurance and capital markets. He currently
manages a financial and professional services underwriting unit for a
Fortune 100 financial institution.
|
How it started
Active Sectors actually began as a pet project that our founder
developed for his own personal investment portfolio drawing on his
years of experience and education. Due to the demands of an 80+
hourly week, he concentrated on developing a methodology that was easy
and efficient to track, incorporated risk management practices,
diversification, capital preservation, and at the same time magnifying
potential returns compared to the traditional practice of a buy and
hold strategy. The use of Exchange Traded Funds was incorporated to
eliminate specific company risks and the requisite time required to
track numerous individual companies. Learn more about Our
Investment
Strategy.

Not an advisor
Active Sectors provides general commentary and information on index
and sector trends of the economy. We do not make any recommendations
on any specific securities or investments. We recognize that this role
is best suited for an investment advisor or broker who knows your
specific investment needs, time horizon, and risk tolerance levels.
We recommend you seek competent and registered investment advise
from a professional investment advisor that is licensed for your state
or region before making any investment decisions. We caution you to be
aware of the inherent biases in the investment, mutual fund and
brokerage communities. We recommend you visit our page on biases for
more information on potential conflicts of interest that may exist
between your investment advisors personal compensation plan and your
overall financial goals. Use of our site is subject to the following

Active Sectors performs the daily task of
market scanning and data analysis on your behalf. The
longer term focus of our model portfolios mean fewer major
sector movement signals are generated.
|
|

Active Sectors model portfolios preserve capital against
severe corrections and also avoids costly mutual fund MER
fees, 12B-1 fees and other annual sales fees of mutual funds. |
|

Timing the markets preserves capital, captures major sector
movements, and efficiently captures larger cumulative gains
over the same period of time as a buy and hold strategy |
